March 2024 // 6 nursery sites have been established in the villages Odoa, Omua, Lindoa, Lini, Olimoo and Otuambari targeting 56 beneficiary families.

The beneficiaries are undergoing training on nursery establishment and management. They receive vital knowledge and skills in good agronomic practices from extension volunteers to improve production and productivity.

All 56 families are making giant steps in realizing their visions in income generation backhome projects, food security and also sanitation and hygiene promotion.
They planted adequate food crops to address hunger in terms of quantity, quality and safety. Food crops such as cassava, beans, maize, pigeon peas, ground nuts, cow peas and Simsim were grown by families for home consumption.

Of the 56 families we work with, only 17 had handwashing facility (locally made tip tapes) representing low 30% hand hygiene coverage. The ultimate goal is to sensitize families to have tip tapes and use ash or soap and water for hand washing after toilet use as a measure of preventing hygiene related diseases such as red eye (conjunctivitis), cholera and diahorrea.
